During my year of fieldwork, I have had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know fellow love researchers in Berlin. After a pleasant afternoon coffee with Omar Kasmani, cultural anthropologist at the Freie Universität, I was invited to give a seminar for his Master’s course, Loving Anthropology.
On the 1st July 2026, I joined the classroom and presented my research to the group of students. We discussed what it meant to do ethnographic research on love, and the unexpected surprises that arise. The students were eager to learn about in-field experience, and participated in a small preparatory exercise, noting the qualities of silence in the week leading up to the class.
